Gardaí investigating a theft at An Post have released without charge a man in his 30s who was detained in relation the case.

Gardaí are investigating the interception, theft and unauthorised use of payment cards from the postal system in the Dublin area.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardaí carried out a planned search in Crumlin on July 25 and 26.

They discovered several items which were believed to be stolen, including post.

The man was arrested at the scene.

He is in his 40s, is an employee of An Post and was taken to Terenure Garda Station where he was detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
