Samaritans Ireland say more men availing of helpline
Samaritans Ireland said that more and more men are availing of their help line service to talk about their problems - and are encouraging more men to do so.
The Samaritans have launched their 24/7 Talk to Us campaign to let people know that someone is there to listen to them 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
They say men are often criticised for hiding their feelings and that they shouldn't be afraid to contact them.
Majella Canty is a volunteer with the organisation - she says they are a shoulder to cry on:
"We're there because sometimes people don't want to upset their families, or they're not sure how people will react to how they're feeling.
"So we're the people who listen without fear of judgement, or … without giving advice."
