A 26-year-old man charged with the murders of two elderly men in Mayo earlier this month - has been further remanded in custody.

A 26-year-old man, charged with the murders of two elderly men in Mayo earlier this month, has been further remanded in custody.

Alan Cawley from Corrimbla in Ballina made a brief appearance before Judge Geoffrey Browne at Harristown Court this morning where he was remanded in custody to appear again on August 16th.

Cawley has been charged with the murders of pensioner brothers Jackie Blaine and Tom Blaine at their home in Newantrim Street, Castlebar, nine days ago.

Dressed in a red shirt, Cawley made no comment during this morning's hearing.
