Post mortem to be carried out on Killarney gas blast victim

A clean-up operation will continue in Killarney today following a suspected gas explosion on Saturday morning.

The body of James Gleeson was found at the scene yesterday following an extensive search.

A post mortem examination will take place today on the body of the 59-year-old businessman who owned the launderette that was damaged by the explosion.

"Brewery Lane will continue to be closed off for some time while the removal of the rest of the debris takes place," said spokesperson for Kerry County Council Padraig Corkery.

"The streets surrounding the area have been slowly reopened over the weekend… following inspection of premises and confirmation that they were structurally safe."
