Fifth FG TD 'keeping options open' on support of new abortion laws

Another Fine Gael TD has said he cannot give a firm commitment on the Protection of Life during Pregnancy Bill.

Longford/Westmeath TD James Bannon has told Midlands 103 that he has received written guarantees from the Health Minister James Reilly that the legislation would not lead to "abortion on demand".

Four Fine Gael TDs who voted against the Government earlier this week have all been expelled from the party.

Deputy Bannon said he is keeping his options open.
