Gardaí tighten controls to avoid repeat of violence at Phoenix Park gigs
Gardaí in Dublin are stepping up security ahead of this year's Phoenix Park concerts.
It is in a bid to prevent a repeat of the violent scenes at the Swedish House Mafia gig last year.
Local residents will be provided with a hotline telephone number to call if they have any concerns.
Justin Timberlake, The Killers and Mumford and Sons are among the acts playing the park this summer.
Dublin City Councillor Mary Fitzgerald, says she hopes the new hotline will strengthen security.
Ms Fitzgerald said: "I hope it will be enough, it had better be enough. People in the area put up with a lot last year and they're looking for public order and peace.
"It shouldn't be too much to ask that they are allowed to enjoy the amenity of their own homes and their own local community.
"I would hope that the concerts would be a success for the event organisers but also for the local residents and the local community."
