Fire-fighters reject Haddington

The Irish Fire and Emergency Services Association has voted by over 90% to reject the Haddington Road Agreement.
The Association, which represents fire-fighters, had recommended a ‘No’ vote to its members.
The result of the ballot was 93% against and 7% in favour.
A spokesman said the rejection of the Haddington Road Agreement reflected the concerns of fire-fighters for the safety of the public, fire-fighters and paramedics in the light of cuts in services and fire-fighter numbers.
