CAP reform talks to commence
Critical CAP reform talks are due to start today in Luxembourg.
It is hoped a deal on the new CAP reform proposals can be reached by the end of June.
The EU Council of Agriculture Ministers, the European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee and the European Commission will attend the key talks this morning.
Meanwhile the Irish Farmers Association will stage a protest at the Department of Agriculture Offices in Dublin this morning at 11am.
The IFA argues that a mandatory minimum payment would lead to a level of redistribution that would be hugely damaging for the Irish agri-market.
