Father of Jill Meagher reads out 'distressing' statement

An Australian based journalist said that a statement read out by the father of Jill Meagher in court in Melbourne earlier today-was particularly harrowing for all concerned.

Adrian Earnest Bayley, appeared in court this morning where a number of victim impact statements were read out, relating to the murder of the Louth native last year.

Family members today heard that the details of what happened to Jill. Her uncle, Michael McKeon said family need privacy and space, as they await the sentencing of Mr. Bayley.

Louise Milligan from ABC News said -George McKeown's statement was very distressing.
