Survey reveals isolation one of the most difficult aspects of caring
The majority of carers in the Republic of Ireland say other family members are their most important source of help, according to a survey carried out to mark National Carers week.
The survey also found that isolation and financial worries were listed as the most difficult aspects of caring.
The ability to provide care for a loved one was listed at the top positive reason to be a carer.
Care Alliance Ireland, which provides support for family carers, hopes the results will reiterate the importance of providing adequate back up at a time when the 19% cut to the respite care grant looms.
