Bridge on M1 named after Mary McAleese
The Boyne cable Bridge near Drogheda on the M1 motorway has been officially named as the Mary McAleese Boyne Valley Bridge.
The bridge naming has been marked at a ceremony in Oldbridge Estate, Co Meath this afternoon attended by the former President and her family, the Taoiseach and political leaders from both sides of the border.
Speaking at the cermony, Taoiseach Enda Kenny said that it is fitting that a bridge be named after Mary McAleese, whom he said through her two terms at Áras an Uachtaráin she built so many bridges between hearts, minds, imaginations.
