Former Senator Tom Fitzgerald passes away

Former Senator Tom Fitzgerald has passed away at the age of 74.

The Fianna Fáil representative from Co Kerry first served on Kerry County Council before joining the Seanad for over 13 years.

The Fianna Fáil Leader Micheál Martin has extended his sympathies to the family of Tom Fitzgerald describing him as a great advocate for rural, maritime and heritage interests.

He is survived by his wife Bridie and three children.
