Galway assault victim dies in hospital
Gardaí have launched a murder investigation after a man who sustained serious injuries during an alleged assault in Galway last week died in hospital.
The incident happened in the Cullairbaun Estate on the Tuam Road in Athenry last Thursday night at around 11.30pm.
The Polish man, who is in his early 40's, was taken to University Hospital Galway after he sustained serious injuries.
He passed away at UCHG late last night.
Four people have been arrested and are being held in Gort and Galway Garda Stations this evening.
A man aged in his 40s and two men in their teens are been detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
A woman in her 30s is being detained under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
