Obama nominates Irish-born woman to be US ambassador for UN
US President Barack Obama has nominated a Dublin-born academic to serve as his country's ambassador for the United Nations.
Samantha Power, who spent the first nine years of her life in Castleknock, is known to be a close friend of Mr Obama and served as part of his election team in 2008.
