Dublin Bus and Irish Rail staff to vote on 'solidarity' strike

SIPTU is to ballot its members in Dublin Bus and Irish Rail for industrial action in solidarity with their colleagues in Bus Éireann.

The results of the ballot are due on Thursday, and it is expected that workers will vote in favour of strike action.

Unions and management at Bus Eireann are meeting at the Labour Relations commission this afternoon to discuss cost-cutting measures at the company.

The National Bus and Rail Drivers Union has suspended its strike for 48 hours pending the outcome of those talks.
