Gardaí treating rubbish-chute body find as suspicious

Gardaí in Cork are treating the death of a man, whose body was found by a rubbish chute, as suspicious.

The body was found yesterday evening after a supervisor checked the waste disposal chute, which runs from the fourth floor of the City Garden apartment complex.

Gardaí said they were trying to establish how long the body was next to drains and a large rubbish bin by the apartment block at Bachelor's Quay in the city centre.

The state pathologist’s office carried out a forensic examination at the scene last night, which remained sealed off while further inquiries take place.

A full post mortem scheduled to take place today.

Gardaí have now begun carrying out door-to-door inquiries and are appealing to anyone with information to come forward.
