Car rental firm offers 50% discount to commuters amid bus strike

Europcar Ireland is offering commuters 50% off car rentals this week to help people get to work while the Bus Eireann strike continues.

It comes as there was an escalation of the dispute in Cork where members of the National Bus and Rail Workers Union blocked a scheduled "GoBus" service from departing.

It has since departed from Patrick's Quay in the city.

Commuters can avail of Europcar's 50% off offer by calling their call centre 01 8122 875.

Colm Brady, Business Development Director of Europcar Ireland, said: "While we sympathize with the workers of Bus Eireann, commuters across the country have been affected as they try to make their way to work."

The offer is available up until Thursday, May 16.
