Govt revises Croke Park 2 deal for higher earners

There has been a significant breakthrough in the new round of Croke Park 2 talks.
The Irish Times said the Government revised key elements of plans for pay cuts and increment freezes for higher earners in the public sector.
A deal in principle was also reached with Garda representative bodies who walked out of the last round of talks.
These latest talks are brokered by the head of the Labour Relations Commission Kieran Mulvey, who is expected to report back to Government today on the progress made.
Meanwhile, the UNITE trade union, which last month voted to reject the proposals, said the Government needs to focus on investing in the economy instead of withdrawing money from it.
