Less than a quarter of Property Tax returns filed

Around 24% of home owners have filed their returns for the Local Property Tax, it has emerged.

"We've received 400,000 returns," said Revenue's property tax manager Vivienne Dempsey.

"So that's the best part of, what, 24% of the entire returns have already been received, and yet we still have three weeks to go before the final electronic filing date.

"We took in our first million in March, and then we collected €21m, these people have paid us in advance, €21m in April, so that's €22m already in Local Property tax has been paid."
