Businessman O'Brien to challenge fraud charges

Businessman Breifne O'Brien's legal challenge to his prosecution on fraud charges is due to be heard by the High Court today.

The 51-year-old of Kilmore, Monkstown Grove, South Dublin is facing trial on multiple counts of theft and deception.

He faces 19 charges of theft for sums totally €11m from five individuals.

No date has been set for the trial because the Cork-born financier is trying to stop the prosecution.

The High Court is due to hear his challenge over two days.
