Jury discharged in trial of publican and two others

The trial of a publican and two other men accused of demanding another pub close within 24 hours has collapsed on its fourth day.

Fifty-five-year-old John Stokes who owns the Players Lounge in Fairview, 21-year-old Daryl Mulcahy of Matt Talbot Court and 30-year-old Derek Nolan from north Dublin denied the charge at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court.

It is alleged the three accused and a man now deceased demanded with menace that Shane Simpson close the Castle Inn pub in Summerhill “within 24 hours” on March 13 2011.

The jury has been discharged and the case will go to a retrial
