Praveen optimistic as inquest draws to a close
The inquest into the death of Savita Halappanavar is expected to conclude today, on what would have been her fifth wedding anniversary.
The 31-year-old dentist died from septicaemia at Galway University Hospital on October 31 last following a miscarriage.
Coroner Dr Ciaran MacLoughlin will sum up the evidence to the jury and explain what verdicts are open to them to return.
On his way into the inquest this morning Savita's husband Praveen Halappanavar said that he is still optimistic about the process.
"It's been very tough and today was actually our wedding anniversary so it's even more hard," he said.
"Hopefully there is some bright days ahead and something good comes out of it."
