Council workers forget how big cars really are

Double yellow lines have been painted on a 4ft wide alley.

Council workers in the UK have painted double yellow lines along a 4ft-wide alleyway which is too narrow to drive down.

A mere 13 inches of space exists between the two sets of yellow lines – which indicate cars cannot park on the road - along the alleyway in Swindon, south west England, roughly the width of a single supercar tyre.

Residents have reacted with bewilderment, whilst Swindon Borough Council claimed the workers responsible had simply forgotten "just how big cars actually are".

Ray Mudhar, the owner of Ray's Autos near the alleyway, told the Swindon Advertiser newspaper: "It's one of the stupidest things I've ever seen”.
