Praveen expected to attend as Savita inquest resumes

A number of witnesses will be recalled as the inquest into the death of Savita Halappanavar resumes in Galway today.

The 31 year old dentist died from septicaemia after being refused an abortion at Galway University Hospital on October 28 last following a miscarriage.

A house doctor and midwife Ann Maria Burke – who made the Catholic country remark - are being recalled because their versions of events are irreconcilable.

Other experts lined up by the coroner are Dr Peter Boylan, a former Master of the National Maternity Hospital.

Praveen Halappanavar is expected to be present today but his lawyers have said he will not sit through the pathology reports.
