A young woman who was stabbed in Co Clare yesterday has been transferred to Cork University Hospital where she is said to be in a stable condition.

A young woman who was stabbed in Co Clare yesterday has been transferred to Cork University Hospital where she is said to be in a stable condition.

The 23-year-old underwent surgery in the Mid Western Regional Hospital after being attacked in the Station Road/Friar's Walk area of Ennis at about 5pm.

Another woman, aged 22, was arrested in a nearby shopping centre shortly afterwards and is still being questioned by gardaí.

Speaking to Clare FM, Superintendent Derek Smart of Ennis Garda Station is appealing for anyone with information about this incident to contact Gardai.
