Man pulled from sea at Dublin Bay dies

The man who was pulled from the sea in Dublin Bay this afternoon has passed away.

The alarm was raised by the man's friend after he failed to return from a swim off Dalkey island.

The Garda Water Unit, as well as lifeboats from Dun Laoghaire and the Coastguard helicopter were deployed to the scene at about 11am this morning.

The man was taken to Tallaght Hospital where it is believed he died in the past hour.
