Boxes have been opened in Ashbourne where counting will take place in the Meath East by-election.

It is to fill the vacancy created by the death of Shane McEntee.

His daughter Helen is the bookies' favourite to take the seat.

Both Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael say this will be a close election, and could be decided on the transfers from Labour and Sinn Féin.
