Four Garda sergeants could face sanctions for conference walk-out

Four members of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors are expected to face the Assistant Commissioner in Templemore today, after walking out of annual conference this week.

The four sergeants walked out on speeches by the Garda Commissioner Martin Callinan and the Justice Minister Alan Shatter.

They will appear before Assistant Commissioner Fintan Fanning today, when it is understood they could face sanctions including verbal warnings, suspension or fines.

Yesterday, the AGSI said the four sergeants should not be disciplined for the action.
