Man accused of Jill Meagher's murder to stand trial in September

The Australian man accused of murdering Irish woman Jill Meagher will stand trial on September 30.

41-year-old Adrian Ernest Bayley appeared via video link from a Melbourne Prison for a brief hearing at Victoria Supreme Court last night.

He has pleaded guilty to raping the 29-year-old radio worker, but denies a murder charge and two other counts of rape.

Ms. Meagher's body was found in a shallow grave 50km north-west of Melbourne five days after she went missing from a busy Brunswick street last September.
