Property tax to be deducted from salaries of boycott TDs

It has emerged that TDs who boycott the property tax will have it deducted from their Dáil salaries.

According to reports in the Sunday Times, those who do now pay the controversial levy, also risk losing their seats if re-elected.

Socialist TD Joe Higgins, United Left Alliance TD Joan Collins and the Independent TD John Halligan all say they will boycott the tax which is due to be paid this July.

Homeowners are due to start getting letters from this week, outlining how the tax works, including a rough estimate of their property's value, and including a two-page form that has to be filled out and sent back to Revenue by May.
