Govt to look back on two years at helm, and forward to job creation and mortgage debt measures

The Taoiseach and Tánaiste will outline today how they plan to tackle job creation and the mortgage arrears crisis in the next year.

Enda Kenny and Eamon Gilmore will also outline progress on the programme for Government, to mark two years of the coalition.

The Fine Gael and Labour leaders are keen not to engage in a back-slapping exercise according to a spokesperson.

However, their planned event today is titled "The Plan Is Working" and they are planning a similar twitter hashtag.

They will outline successes, particularly the promissory note deal and plans to make our bailout debts more sustainable, but will have to admit slow progress in other areas, such as reform in health.

Enda Kenny and Eamon Gilmore will be keen to look ahead and are expected to signal new policies to be implemented to deal with the high numbers who cannot find a job, and the growing group of people who cannot pay their mortgages.
