Pyramids to go green for Paddy's Day

St Patrick's Day will be seen from space this year as the Egyptian pyramids will go green on March 17.

They join the list of iconic landmarks around the world turning green for St Patrick's Day as part of Tourism Ireland's Global Greening project.

The Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil will also go green for the first time this year, along with the Welcome sign in Las Vegas, the Little Mermaid in Copenhagen, the Allianz Arena in Munich (home ground of Bayern Munich) and the Sydney Opera House in Australia.

In the UK, Manchester Town Hall and the Clyde Auditorium, affectionately known as ‘the Armadillo’, in Glasgow will both go green.

The Gathering will also be highlighted on specially "greened" taxis for the month of March in London, Birmingham, Glasgow and Manchester.
