Family still hopeful New Year's Eve killer will be caught
The family of a man from Co Clare who was shot dead at his home a decade ago today remain hopeful those responsible will be caught.
Sean Poland, a 39-year-old car dealer from Blackwater, Ardnacrusha was gunned down during a raid at his home shortly before midnight on New Year's Eve 2002, while his partner was assaulted and tied up.
Though several arrests have been made in connection with his killing, no one has ever been charged.
Gardaí and Sean's family are making a fresh appeal for information to coincide with the tenth anniversary of his death.
Speaking to Clare FM, Sean's sister, Marie Horgan made this appeal to anyone who may have information about her brother's death.
"I'd say to them: 'Please, clear your conscience, come out and go to the guards. You can do that without anyone else knowing it, and it would mean so much to us, it would help us so much'," she said.
Anyone with information on the murder of Sean Poland is asked to contact Henry Street Gardaí on 061 212400 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
