Man dies in Longford three-car collision

A man has died in a three car crash in Co. Longford.

The collision happened at around 5pm this evening on the N5 between Longford and Tarmonbarry, close to Longford Town Football Club.

Three men in one of the cars were all taken to Mullingar Hospital following the crash - where a 45 year old man was pronounced dead, and a man in his 20s and the other in his 40s are said to be in a serious condition.

The drivers of the other two cars sustained only minor injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
