Two investigations underway following death of man struck by bus

Two investigations are underway following the death of a man who was hit by a bus in Dublin city centre yesterday.

Gardai are trying to determine whether he was pushed in front of the bus after a fight broke out opposite Trinity college.

The shocking incident happened at the junction of Nassau Street and Dawson Street during rush hour yesterday evening.

Witnesses say the victim was involved in a row with two other men before the tragedy unfolded.

And detectives are now trawling through CCTV footage to see if the man was punched or pushed in front of the double decker.

They have also begun interviewing eye witnesses and have spoken to the bus driver, who is said to be traumatised after the event.

A separate investigation is also underway at Dublin Bus, as is standard procedure in the event of such an incident.

In the meantime, gardaí are appealing for witnesses with any information to come forward.
