Probation for woman who broke into house…to give it a tidy

A woman who broke into a house to tidy it has been put on probation for a year.

Susan Warren of Cleveland, Ohio, who has been dubbed the "cleaning fairy", told the authorities she broke into the abode because she "wanted something to do".

She entered the property while owner Sherry Bush's teenage daughter was sleeping upstairs and cleaned a number of items before leaving a note charging the family $75 for the service.

Sherry told WKYC: “There were some coffee mugs that my husband had out. She had washed them all.

"She wrote a note [on a napkin] and left it on the table, saying, '$75 I was here to clean,' and left her name and number.”

Sherry was left stunned when she rang the number assuming to hear the cleaner had got the wrong house only to discover she claimed to own a cleaning business and said she does such a thing "all the time".

The homeowner explained: "I think our jaws just dropped to the ground. I said, what happened, did you get the wrong house?

“She said, 'no, I do this all the time.' I said, what do you mean? She said, 'I just stop and clean your house.' "

The 53-year-old woman pleaded guilty to attempted burglary and must now also do 20 hours community service.
