Cyclist dies in Co Meath accident

A cyclist has died after being hit by a car in County Meath yesterday evening.

A cyclist has died after being hit by a car in County Meath yesterday evening.

The collision happened at Balrath, about a kilometre outside Drumconrath, at about 5pm.

The 55-year-old man was taken to Our Lady's Hospital in Navan, where he was pronounced dead later.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

Gardaí said the road was closed for a time last night to allow a forensic examination, but has since reopened.
