The Army Bomb Squad has been called to a school in Co Cork.

Bomb squad called to Cork school's science lab

The Army Bomb Squad has been called to a school in Co Cork after the discovery of an unstable chemical at the Sacred Heart Secondary School in Carrignavar.

The substance - which is known to become unstable over time - was found during a routine audit of the science lab.

A controlled explosion was carried out and the scene was declared safe shortly after 2pm.
