Rural Ireland has been left behind according to the group 'Glór na Tuaithe'.

The group are holding a meeting in Athlone today to discuss the many issues faced by people living in rural Ireland.

One aim of the meeting will be to highlight the effects the closure of schools and garda stations are having on people.
