FF leader Martin hits out at Govt record on North

The Fianna Fáil leader Michéal Martin has accused the Government of neglecting the issue of Northern Ireland by dramatically reducing its engagement.

Addressing a crowd at the annual Wolfe Tone commemoration in Co. Kildare this afternoon, Deputy Martin said the Government had the bare minimum of meetings concerning the North, accusing it of backing away from the agenda of developing the cross-border institutions.

He also hit out at politicians in the Northern Ireland Assembly, saying Sinn Féin and the DUP were putting party political advantage ahead of the common good.
