Welsh police investigating Offaly woman's death make arrest

Welsh police have arrested a man on suspicion of the murder of an Offaly woman.

38-year-old Catherine Gowing was last seen by friends on Friday evening at about 8pm in the town of Mold near New Brighton in Flintshire.

Ms Gowing is originally from Clonlee, Clareen near Birr and she moved to Wales after qualifying as a vet.

Investigators are trying to trace her car, a burgundy/purple Renault Clio with the registration place 00 D 99970.

A man was arrested last night and is currently being questioned by police.

A press conference is expected to be held later today.
