O'Reilly awaits decision on legal aid for appeal

Joe O'Reilly, who was convicted of murdering his wife in 2004, has yet to secure lawyers as part of his bid to have his conviction overturned as a miscarriage of justice.

He was not at the Court of Criminal Appeal when his case came up for mention today.

He has lodged a statement of means to try to secure legal aid, but the court has put the case back for submissions on whether the scheme applies to him.

Joe O'Reilly is serving a life sentence for the murder of his wife Rachel who was bludgeoned to death at their home in the Naul, North Dublin in October 2004.
