Hogan makes formal order to appoint November 10 as referendum polling day

The Environment Minister Phil Hogan has formally made an order appointing Saturday November 10 as the polling day for the Children's Referendum.

Polling stations will open from 9am to 10pm.

The Saturday poll means the closure of hundreds of schools will be avoided, while the shorter polling hours will generate savings of over €600,000.

People who are eligible to vote but who are not on the electoral register still have time to apply for the supplementary register.

Application forms can be downloaded from checktheregister.ie or can be obtained from city or county councils.
