Man arrested after Ballyfermot gangland killing
Gardaí investigating the latest gangland killing in Dublin have arrested a man in his 30s for questioning.
He was detained late last night at Ballyfermot garda station under Section 50 of the Offences Against the State Act and can be held for up to a week.
Father of two John Wilson was shot dead in the front hallway of his house on Cloverhill Road, in Ballyfermot just before 3pm yesterday. He had just collected his daughter from school and dropped her at another address, before he was shot.
A post mortem will be carried out today.
The 35-year-old was known to gardaí and had previous convictions. He was the third gangland figure to be killed in Dublin this week.
Gardaí believe two men carried out the attack. They are looking for information about a brown Volkswagen Passat found burnt out in Cherry Orchard Crescent.
Superintendent David Taylor is appealing to the public for help.
