A US jewellery store is offering customers a free hunting rifle when they spend more than $2,499 on a diamond.

A US jewellery store is offering customers a free hunting rifle when they spend more than $2,499 (€1,933) on a diamond.

Store owner Mike Geller thought it seemed like a "great thing to do" because many of his customers are hunters, and he got the idea after seeing a similar offer at a car dealership in Missouri.

He said: "It’s unbelievable! A lot of our customers are hunters, and it just seemed like a great thing to do."

But his special offer has been given a mixed reaction by female customers. One Cobb County woman called the incentive "stupid" but another said it was "interesting" before admitting it mainly appeals to men.
