Gardaí appeal for information in Dublin gangland murder probe
Gardaí investigating the shooting dead of Declan O'Reilly in Dublin last night have appealed for information about what they are describing as a "callous" murder.
The 32-year-old man was walking with his 12-year-old son on the South Circular Road at around 8pm last night when a silver car pulled up alongside and a gunman opened fire.
The car, which was stolen in Clondalkin last week, was later found burnt out and a gun was found inside.
The victim was known to Gardaí, he was previously aquitted for a prison killing and Gardaí have said this is one of the avenues currently being explored.
Superintendent Thadie Muldoon of Kevin Street Garda Station said Mr O'Reilly knew his life was in danger.
He said officers are particularly interested in speaking to anyone with information about the silver BMW 3 series car used by the killer which has the registration number 04 D 48695.
