Two in court on Kilkenny drug charges

A man and a woman are due to appear before a special sitting of Kilkenny District Court later this morning charged in connection with a massive drugs haul in the county.

An estimated €1.5m worth of cannabis resin, cannabis herb and cocaine were discovered by gardaí - when they carried out searches in Gowran on Thursday evening.

A man in his late 40s and a woman in her 20s were arrested and detained at Ballymun and Thomastown Garda Stations respectively under Section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

They were charged last night and will appear before Kilkenny District Court at 11.30am this morning.
