Post mortem due on body found in Dublin apartment

A post mortem will be carried out today on the body of a man who was killed and dumped in a wardrobe.

The grim discovery was made by gardaí after a tip-off to go to the property on Prussia Street in Stoneybatter in Dublin city.

A man and a woman are being questioned in connection with the killing.

It is believed the victim was stabbed to death before his body was wrapped in a blanket and stuffed in a wardrobe.

His remains were found shortly before 3pm and the scene was cordoned off for a forensic examination.

The assistant State pathologist, Dr Michael Curtis, later confirmed the body was a man and detectives upgraded the investigation to murder.

The dead man was removed to the State mortuary where a post mortem will be carried out to determine the exact cause of death.

A man aged in his 30s, who knew the victim, and a woman in her 40s were later arrested in the city centre and taken to the Bridewell garda station for questioning.
