Man acquitted of McAreavey murder gives TV interview

One of two men who were cleared of the murder of Michaela McAreavey has said that it was obvious from the start that he had no hand in her murder.

The 27-year-old was found dead while on honeymoon in Mauritius in January 2011.

In July, Avinash Treebhoowoon and Sandip Moneea were acquitted of the charge of murdering the Tyrone woman.

In an interview to be broadcast on TV3 this evening, Sandip Moneea explains how it felt to have the spotlight shone on him for all the wrong reasons.

"It's been very difficult for me to stay there in the court, every time we've been to the court, people pointing at you, saying: 'He's the one'," said Moneea.
