HSE 'had been in contact' with Charleville family

The HSE says it intends to undertake a "comprehensive review" of the involvement of its services with the family of a young boy found dead in County Cork.

A post mortem is to be carried out on the body of eight-year-old Anthony Ward to establish exactly how he died.

Emergency services found Anthony in the bedroom of his Charleville home this morning on the day he was due to return to school to start 2nd class.

The HSE has confirmed that it had been in contact with the family in the past.

In a statement, the Executive said it had been notified of Anthony's death but added that it was not in a position to comment further while a Garda investigation was ongoing.
